Julie Stiles entered our lives re-telling us the story of “The Taming of the Shrew” in “10 Things I Hate About You”. She was the lovable, stuck-up, yet longing for affection girl next door for a while, if you want, a more commercial version of My So Called Life’s Angela Chase. These days, however, Ms. Stiles has shown some serious determination to do out of the box projects and, in all fairness, I must admit that one of those project is a must watch on Youtube.
The series I’m talking about is “Blue”. The 10 minutes episode web series, available on Wigs Channel (a production company specialized on producing fiction about women/women issues) on Youtube details the complicated life of a suburban mom/accountant turned part-time hooker. What I find really fascinating about this web-series is, besides the structures of the episodes, the quality of the dialogue and of the series itself. Since we don’t talk about a major studio big budget project, everything is restricted to minimal: the story, which unfolds very organically, the characters ( relevant and original) and the dialogue sharp as a razor.
The series is available on Youtube ( all three seasons) and on Hulu/Hulu Plus ( in an extended 40 minute episode). Check it out! You won’t regret it.
